2011 Racing Season to start soon!!
Randy Sample clinched Super Street Championship
RACE REPORT 10/15/2010
Welcome Race Fans,
RACE RESULTS SUPER STREET RACE
Randy Sample started on the pole, at 74.665 mph, and led all 40 laps to notch his ninth victory of the year in the Langley Fan Club Super Street race.
While Sample leaped into the lead at the initial green flag, Ritchie German and Ryan Nester went door-to-door for second. German, on the inside, won that tussle as the duo exited Turn 4. Soon, German had closed to within a car-length of the leader.
As the laps clicked by, Sample began to extend his advantage over German. By the halfway mark, he was up by three lengths. Traffic loomed ahead, but Sample smartly dispatched two slower machines on lap 26, going to the inside of one, then the outside of the other, adding to his lead in the process.
German tried to follow Sample’s cue on lap 27. Instead, he tangled with one of the lapped machines and spun in Turn 2 to bring out the first caution flag, handing second to Nester.
Gathering for a restart, Renno Marchetti IV, Sean Calway, Jamie Sample and Garrett Willcox pulled out of line and advanced to the outside of the leader.
Back under green, Sample and Nester quickly cleared their challengers. Marchetti and Calway did manage to slip in line in third and fourth, though.
The race’s only other caution flag flew on lap 28 when Willcox spun in Turn 3. For the ensuing restart, John Pereira, Chris Roberts and German opted for the outside lane.
As the race resumed, Sample immediately freed himself of the logjam, while Nester broke into the clear on the backstretch. Pereira slipped in line in third, followed by Roberts.
Just a couple laps after the restart, Sample had already driven away by three lengths over Nester, who had a mirror-full of Pereira. On lap 31, though, Pereira skated wide in Turn 2 and surrendered the third spot to Roberts. Meanwhile, Sample was steadily padding his lead.
At the finish, Sample was the winner by half a straightaway over Nester. Roberts was third, followed by Pereira and German, who passed Marchetti to return to the top five on lap 32.
In the standings, with one event to go, Sample holds a comfortable 36-point lead, 564-528, over Nester, who took second from Kevin Alves. A 19th-place finish in the Oct. 16 points wrap-up would be enough to give Sample his second straight Super Street championship.
RACE REPORT 6/11/2010
Welcome Race Fans,
RACE RESULTS SUPER STREET RACES 1, 2, 3, & 4
JRN RACING TAKES 3 WINS IN 4 RACES, AND 1ST IN POINTS!!
Jamie, Randy, and myself welcome all of our friends, fans, and sponsors to our 2010 Racing Season. JRN Racing has taken our first win of the year and has assumed the points lead in the Super Street Division.
Jamie is off to a good start this season. The new car we obtained back in January is working much better that the car that was wrecked last year. He currently has a 4th, 3rd, 11th (only because he was caught in the middle of another drivers wreck), and 7th this past weekend.
The crew chief (me), made a bad call with the rear springs that caused the car to turn like a school bus.
Anyway, the car is working well, but we are still tweaking the handling to get the best from it.
We need to shave a couple of tenths off of the lap times to be right at the top. However, his finishes have been consistent enough to put him in the top spot in points at a third through the season. Keep up the churning and burning. Jamie’s car has also had targets on it this season, and has taken its bumps and bruises so far.
Its keeping the crew chief and car painter Tim hopping during the off weeks to keep our car looking nice for our sponsors.
Randy has so far raced in three of the four races and has won them all! Randy missed the first race because his newly built engine was not running right and making unnatural noises. We opted to set out that race to keep from creating further damage.
That did not go over well with the 2009 Super Street Points champion, but we have quickly recovered.
The engine was fixed, and the car’s handling has been spot on. Getting the car to turn is the key to wins at Langley. With these three wins, he has moved already to 6th in points. Continued good finishes will keep pushing him up higher.
The race recap from this past week is provided by Langley Speedway’s website:
In the 40-lap Langley Fan Club Super Street race, Randy Sample continued his dominance over the division, leading all the way from the pole for his third win in a row.
Sample set the fast time in afternoon qualifying, lapping the track at 73.982 mph.
Randy Akers was second-quickest, followed by Ryan Nester, Larry Venable and Kevin Alves.
As the race got going, Sample grabbed the early advantage, showing the way into Turn 1. Akers dropped into second as the field sorted itself out in the leader’s wake.
Akers was able to stick with Sample in the opening laps.
Together, they pulled away from third-place Nester, who was battling with Venable and Alves. By lap 10, though, Sample was starting to edge away, stretching his lead over Akers to three lengths. Half a straightaway separated Akers and Nester.
On lap 12, Alves slipped past Venable through Turns 3 and 4 to pick up the fourth spot. Meanwhile, Sample had widened his margin to half a straightaway nearing the halfway mark.
Just past halfway, Akers skated wide in Turn 2, allowing Sample to pull out to a full straightaway lead, while Nester and Alves closed in from behind.
The first caution flag appeared on lap 24. On the restart, Jamie Sample abandoned the sixth spot in line to test his luck to the outside of his brother. Randy Sample easily cleared him and pulled away, but Akers wasn’t as fortunate as he came under attack from Nester, who grabbed second and brought Alves along with him.
The only other yellow flag flew on lap 27 for a two-car incident on the backstretch. This time, it was Renno Marchetti IV who opted to pull to the leader’s outside for the restart.
Back under green, Sample quickly dispensed with Marchetti and drove away. Nester struggled to clear the Marchetti machine. By the time he broke free, Sample was already up by five lengths.
Over the closing laps, Sample kept pouring it on and won by a full straightaway — 3.979 seconds, to be precise — over Nester. Alves scooted around Marchetti on lap 34 and came home in third. Marchetti was fourth and Sean Calway picked up a fifth-place finish. After running in the lead pack for much of the event, Akers faded near the end and wound up ninth.
Jamie’s new car is still under construction as time and race funds allow. We still want to try and get this car built and get it on the track.
